  • My pet has just been microchipped, what do I need to do now?

Once microchipped you will need to register the details online. The vet will give you a pack with the microchip number and instructions on how to register. It is important to do this as soon as possible and make sure all the details are up to date and correct.

  • When should I neuter my pet?

We recommend neutering male and female cats from 4 months of age as long as they are over 1.5kg in weight. For male dogs we recommend neutering when they are fully grown which can be any time after 6 months of age dependent on breed. For female dogs you can opt for pre season spaying in small breeds at 6 months of age or wait until 2-3 months after their first season.

  • What nurse clinics do you offer?

We offer a variety of clinics including: nail clips, anal gland emptying, post-operative checks and stitch removals, geriatric clinics, weight clinics, puppy and kitten checks.

  • How long does it take for results from lab tests to come back?

It depends on the test. In house blood and urine testing can be reported on the same day as sampling. Blood, urine and faecal samples sent to the external lab will be reported 24-48 hours later. Any samples sent for cytology or histology can take up to a week to be reported.

  • What animals do you see?

We mostly see dogs, cats and rabbits though we are happy to look at small furries too.

  • When should I vaccinate my kitten/puppy?

We recommended vaccinating kittens from 9 weeks of age and puppies from 8 weeks of age. The kitten vaccinations are a course of 2 injections 3-4 weeks apart and the puppy vaccinations are a course of 3 injections at 8, 10 and 12 weeks of age.

  • My dog is going into kennels soon, do they need a kennel cough vaccination?

It depends on the kennels requirements. Most kennels will ask for them to be vaccinated against kennel cough but may want it done a certain length of time before visiting kennels. It is always best to check with them first.
